Concord Office Celebrates Youth Accomplishments

Tags: Contra Costa County Success Stories Wall of Fame Youth Events

Every First Place office hosts a Wall of Fame celebration each quarter. These ceremonies allow us to acknowledge our young people’s hard work, progress, and accomplishments in education, employment and independent living skills. The recent event in Contra Costa County recognized several young people whose persistence and effort are paying off.

Shamonte earned an Education Award for completing his credits for his high school diploma! He just began his first semester at Diablo Valley College this Spring and is pursuing an AA. He has also consistently stayed employed in the past 6+ months.

Heather was acknowledged with an All Around award. She has paid rent and PG&E on time every month she has been in program. She is almost complete with her AA from Diablo Valley College, majoring in Sociology. Additionally she has worked consistently and is now working with Susan Bonilla’s office. She was also a California Youth Connection (CYC) policy intern and works closely with the Contra Costa County Independent Living Skills Program. Her dream is to make policy changes on a legislative level.
