First Place For Youth
Feb 14, 2014
This summary brief presents finding from a formative evaluation conducted by independent researchers at Public/Private Ventures (P/PV) of My First Place, a program of First Place for Youth that provides critical services to youth adults ages 18-14 who have aged out of the foster care system. The two-year study suggests that My First Place has been effective in achieving its programmatic goals, providing comprehensive services in line with known research and best practices. Early, positive in-program outcomes for youth in the program’s target areas—education, employment, healthy living and housing—suggest that these outcomes may be traced to core elements of the model, which deserve further study and replication by other organizations.
